An urban expansion of Brighton comprising 1,062 homes, community outdoor sports facilities; 25,000m2 employment floorspace; a neighbourhood centre including retail outlets; a doctors’ surgery and community building; public open and play space; alterations to the Local Wildlife Site (LWS); and associated landscaping.
Two outline consents were secured in order to deliver this scheme which was a strategic development allocation in the adopted Brighton and Hove City Plan. Enplan have been involved with the proposals since making representations to achieve the allocation of the site within the City Plan Part One which was adopted in 2016.
Enplan prepared the original outline application and a subsequent “drop-in” application for an alternative use on a parcel of land within the site which was no longer required for its originally intended purpose. Key impacts include the proximity to South Downs National Park; ecology and biodiversity; traffic; and impacts on a Local Wildlife Site (LWS). The new housing proposals respond to the site’s challenging topography.
